Concrete Vibrators & Mixers

Concrete Vibrators & Mixers

When it comes to mixing and compacting concrete effectively, using the right mixer and vibrator can make all the difference in finish quality and structural integrity. Our collection of hand-held concrete vibrators and economical, heavy duty compactors is designed to meet the demands of every jobsite. Whether you're pouring a foundation, slab, or column, knowing the key differences between the types of concrete vibrators and mixers will help you choose the most effective tool for the task.

Power Source

Corded electric concrete vibrators and mixers offer consistent performance and are perfect for indoor or stationary applications.

Petrol-powered vibrators & mixers provide unmatched portability and are ideal for remote sites with no access to electricity.

Battery-powered concrete vibrators are the newest addition - quiet, emission-free, and ultra-mobile with no cords or fuel needed.

Concrete Vibrators - Vibrations Per Minute

A very important factor for concrete vibrators is vibrations per minute (VPM), which affects the speed and depth of consolidation. Models typically range from 12,000 to 18,000 VPM - ideal for removing air bubbles and improving concrete density.

Consider the head diameter too. Smaller heads (25 - 38mm) work best in tight spaces or rebar-heavy sections, while larger heads (45 - 60mm) are better for wide-open pours.

Concrete Mixers - Revolutions Per Minute

The ideal drum speed (RPM) for concrete mixers depends on the size and type of mixer, but for most portable site mixers (like your 140L–210L electric or petrol models), the optimal speed is around 20–30 RPM.

Here’s why:

  • Too slow (<15 RPM): Concrete won’t mix thoroughly, leading to clumping and uneven consistency.
  • Too fast (>35 RPM): The mix tends to stick to the drum walls, segregation can occur and it puts unnecessary stress on gears and bearings.
  • 20–30 RPM “sweet spot”: Provides the best tumbling action so the aggregate, cement and water combine evenly without excess wear on the machine.

For large industrial batching plant mixers, the actual drum RPM is much lower (sometimes only 1–5 RPM), because the drums are massive, but the internal paddles provide the mixing action.
